Inspired by their determination to use coffee as a vehicle for change, Las Rosas Women’s Coffee Project was established to drive meaningful change in the lives of women and community of La Plata, Huila. This is a delicate, sweet and dynamic coffee produced by 300 farmers from the Women Association of Western Huila, Colombia.
Las Rosas Women’s Coffee Project aims to address existing gender inequities by implementing and creating solutions that support women throughout their coffee journey. The project underscores the importance of quality and consistency and implements sustainable practices to ensure coffee is grown in accordance to best practices.
“When we started, we were only fifty women who dreamed of exporting our own coffee. To accomplish that dream, we had to be sustainable and offer an excellent product.”
Las Rosas Women’s Coffee Project is making positive change in the lives of women coffee farmers. By purchasing this micro-lot, you are aiding their mission of:
- Guaranteeing prices cover cost of production
- Paying a cash premium for quality coffee
- Provide psychological support to women affected by domestic violence
- Supporting training activities
- Establishing a self-managed rotating credit fund
- Hosting their own equality workshop
